Pluto in Aquarius by rising sign

Here we all are, on the cusp of a new era. For you personally and for the collective.

This house-by-house divination explains themes most relevant for you based on your rising sign~ please scroll down. It’s not definitive, it’s meant more like journal prompts to be explored and expanded on, especially that which resonates, or feels most relevant.

Most astrologers put information like this behind a paywall. I am gifting it to you. Why?

Because I want everyone to have access to it. We all need this so we can co-create/write our own stories. We don’t have to be victims pulled along by the tides of fate.

Please support me by sharing this with your friends and family.

Pluto into Aquarius; transition to a new epoch

Pluto’s final ingress into Aquarius on 20 November is a much anticipated celestial movement by astrologers. There is such a mashup of published information on it you could be forgiven for being utterly confused and bewildered as to what to think or expect.

To be honest some of it makes my toes curl, and yet I wonder if this is now the landscape that we all must navigate because of the way Pluto has been hovering between worlds lately, since last year.

And yet a slow-moving ingress like this one sometimes has a way of announcing its arrival. This is now.

Not knowing; it feels awkward until you accept it. Then it’s a relief. Let’s not live in fear.

Understanding Pluto

There are so many opposing views and opinions about Pluto’s ingress, from the radical, extreme and ridiculous to the incredible utopia-like and miraculous. Some of it seems plausible, but who knows for sure? Not me. Not anyone.

How Pluto shows up is always both personal and collective, operating within the microcosm and macrocosm at the same time. Pluto’s multivalent power. If you don’t know much about Pluto (or astrology) I recommend this long talk with Richard Tarnas.

You will know if Pluto has arrived in your life. This potent planet-god-archtype is often present when you are experiencing the most intense, extraordinary or powerful changes you have ever known. Yet it is so tiny people say it’s a dwarf-planet. There is nothing small about its impact. A Pluto journey is like no other, and the soul evolution is pure gold.

Even if you have to mine that gold with your bare hands.

Evolution and Revolution

The yin/feminine qualities of Pluto as personified by Persephone and other underworld goddesses like Inanna, lead us inward and downward into journeys of self healing, the profound, twisty-turny process of soul growth. They are slow processes, unfolding over months or even years.

We might feel scorched or burned, reduced to a pile of ashes. Fire is a metaphor often used to reference a Pluto process, especially its purifying and regenerative process. Sometimes it’s an actual, literal fire.

Another one also reinforces the regenerative power of Pluto; the caterpillar. We live like a caterpillar, but then we die, only to emerge from our cocoon much later, gradually spreading our crushed wings before taking flight into our new life, glorious.

Only then are we able to make sense of our suffering and give it meaning. We are transformed; renewed, different, empowered.

The death and rebirth process of Pluto is encoded in our lifecycle too. Yes it can be painful, but every bit of it is worth it.

And the more we participate in it, the more conscious and intentional we are, the easier it is. We become co-creators rather than victims of circumstance.

Are you familiar with the ancient story of Persephone, and the even more ancient story The Descent of Inanna?

The Descent of Inanna

Persephone & Demeter

These stories are archetypal templates; our guidebooks, our maps as we all embark on this new path of our personal evolution. We can get lost in the dark without these maps to guide us.

Meanwhile have a read of this for a modern take on the asteroid Persephone, on the wonderful Saturn and Honey website.

Your Journey is unique to you.

Where does Aquarius fall in your chart? Specifically what house? Do you have any planets there? Do points in this house connect to any other sensitive points in your chart?

Saturn is the receiving lord of this domain — Aquarius, and it’s a fixed AIR sign. This is important to remember, because Pluto will be working on where you find change difficult. Where you tend to resist. Resistance only leads to more suffering. We will need open minds for this work, and brave hearts.

For some of us Pluto will move to an easier, more gentle position, while others can expect a more obvious and imperative journey. Its is unique to everyone, a personal and individual process. Read the previous sign for an overview of where you have been on your Pluto path for more context.

Remember these are possibilities, they are not written in stone, so please read with an eye to what resonates with you, or what seems potentially the most likely. ~ Anna Marie

AQUARIUS RISING ~ Pluto Transiting First house

Pluto becomes much more visible as it moves out of the 12 place and into the first house, the place of health, the physical appearance, the self and how you operate in the world and manage your life in general. This is one of the most powerful transits you will ever experience, especially when Pluto rolls over your Ascendent degree, or squares your MC/IC meridian.

You will manifest and embody this god in some shape or form, but the power you wield is not yours. Ultimately it belongs to the collective and in a sense you are only the medium, the channeller, the Shaman.

Pluto can change your appearance at some point during this journey. You might darken somehow, for instance your choice of clothing, or your hair, or your style might become underworld-ly and mysterious. You might have an urge to tattoo or pierce your body, or some other dramatic gesture that demonstrates your personal journey of transformation and evolution.

Pluto near your Ascendent degree shrouds you in an aura of intense, yet mysterious magnetism, a kind of animal charisma. Aquarius themes can show up now as very progressive, radical or outlandish. Perhaps you have an urge to hide, or to control an emerging new sense of self while you search for answers to what you are experiencing, especially the influence you have on others.

You have incredible physical energy and vitality, determination and will power, with the courage and fortitude to overcome whatever lies in your path. Feats of great endurance are possible now. You will want to test your limits, and your powers of survival, which can manifest dramatic situations. Even near-death experiences.

Or you feel possessed by an idea or theory. Sometimes this can lead to a ruthless quest for power — especially when Pluto squares your MC/IC. However more often it will show up as a process of reclaiming the lost parts of yourself, to heal and repair what is broken, eventually to emerge more whole, more empowered.

If you ignore Pluto’s imperatives you could end up having a health crises of some sort. Or something happens to change your appearance or physical abilities. Pluto demands that you embody power, that you own it. And Aquarius wants you to do it in ways that are liberating, unique or even radical.

Mentally you might feel torn between concepts like good and evil, light and dark as you work through experiences that might seem extreme, polarised or radical. You are sifting out what no longer serves your ultimate purpose.

The more conscious you are, the more control you will have over how you direct your personal power, rather than acting out. It is the unconscious drives that will land you in hot water. So much depends on how intentional and self-aware you are.

To benefit from the transformational gifts this powerful transit brings you, do your shadow work, and own your dark side.

CAPRICORN RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Second House

This house is the place of money you earn and spend, your assets and your livelihood. Also things that you hold dear. It can also include skills and talents you have developed and how you employ them to serve others and create the lifestyle you want.

Following the intense personal transformation of Pluto’s journey through your first house you might still be taking stock of yourself. Looking back you see you are not the same person since 2008 when that journey began. And you cannot continue as you were, especially with regard to those themes relating to your livelihood, your resources, assets and income.

It’s time for a new direction. You may now be forced to evolve and adapt to big changes relating to how you earn and where your income comes from, especially when Pluto aspects your MC either by trine or square. Ethical considerations for example may begin to impact your role in the world.

Pluto often has some unsubtle ways of pushing you out of a secure position. Perhaps it comes as a breakdown of material things that maintain your lifestyle. Your car, your appliances or other assets all seem to fail or frustrate you. They may cost more to fix than replace.

These annoying situations are most often signposts pointing to alternatives and opportunities for growth. But first you have to clear away the detritus that blocks your path, the clutter that clouds your focus or your vision. Make a burn pile of things that represent the old you, or give them away. Weirdly if you sell things, it doesn’t work quite as well.

Pluto wants you to engage in this process of purification by getting rid of things that are not going to be part of your new future.

Pluto also has a reputation for creating extremes of wealth or poverty. These experiences can change how you value and appreciate material things.

Illegal or dangerous sources of income can seem very alluring. Likewise an obsessive or extreme quest for some item symbolising wealth and value. It can also happen that collecting some special or rare thing becomes all consuming or transformative, or at the most extreme; some kind of hoarding fetish.

Celebrities with Capricorn rising: Dustin Hoffman, Carmen Electra, Naomi Campbell, Meg Ryan, Willem Dafoe.

SAGITTARIUS RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Third House

This house represents the environment in which you live; your local neighbourhood, neighbours, community, siblings and extended family, as well as how you communicate with them and relate to them. Perhaps it also includes your on-line community, the inner and outer webs that hold your life together.

So it involves lines of communication both locally and the world at large, as well as travel to and fro, between them. So short trips, the exchange of ideas and information also belong to this complex realm.

This house is friendly to your Sagittarius rising sign, offering opportunities rather than obstacles, generally speaking. Yet even in this kinder position Pluto can cause trouble.

With Aquarius as the sign ruler of this place, you will probably be a free thinker, a free spirit who rebels against local customs and expectations. And yet rules, ethics and codes of conduct are important to you. Now more than ever.

Pluto transiting here deepens your idealism, or brings it to life somehow. You might find yourself attracting attention (not always in a good way) for your radical or outlandish ideas, or ways of speaking and expressing them. Alternatively Pluto puts a lid on it all, forcing you to look within for answers.

With hard aspects or conjunctions to other points in your chart Pluto can bring about a complete breakdown in his area of influence. For you this might entail situations where you are unable to speak up or use your voice for some reason.

At the very extreme edge of this there is the potential for slander, false accusations, or having to keep secrets. You may find yourself the keeper of taboo or hidden information, for instance a whistleblower-type situation.

The secretive, hidden and subversive nature of Pluto in this domain is more likely to lead to the discovery of buried or taboo information that is unable to be shared for a long time.

Take particular care when travelling and commuting and be prepared for bizarre or dangerous situations that can disrupt your normal routes (both literally and figuratively).

You might become enamoured of a long and arduous project such as writing a book, the study of long lost secrets, or depth research in fields of science and technology (or related fringe topics).

A fascination for non-verbal communication such as symbols, imagery and languages could take you on a deep dive into hidden realms, such as spiritualism and communicating with the dead.

A crises (or death) of a sibling, neighbour, or cousin can lead to an internal crises concerning your own healing or mortality.

There could be dangerous, difficult or outlandish situations involving fires, secrets or mysteries in your neighbourhood, or drama concerning cousins or siblings, or even something that relates to your local gathering places.

A war with neighbours can blow up over something trivial. Pluto here is concerned with language, speaking and communication in general, so whatever arises is asking you to pay attention to how you connect with the world around you. Words have power.

Other people can seem to be controlling or manipulating, or one person in particular is like this, like you are under the thumb as it were. You want to rebel, to fight back. Situations like this offer opportunities to learn how to see the underlying and hidden motivations of the people around you. You might understand how people use voice and language to control and manipulate and this information could prove invaluable for your future growth and evolution.

Look for the patterns in the way you relate to others in your immediate environment, or your community. Ultimately these themes are about finding your own truth, your own voice.

Celebrities with Sagittarius rising: Joseph Fiennes, Kim Kardashian, Princes William, Warren Buffet, Oprah Winfrey.

SCORPIO RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Fourth House

The fourth house is at the bottom, midnight area of the chart, the foundation of your life. So themes relating to family, home, heritage, roots, childhood, where you grew up, where you come from, your parents, where you are based, how and where you raise your own family, the land you live on.

This is an angular position, so is thus one of the most sensitive, intense, private and personal areas of your life.

With Aquarius covering this place, it’s possible you live somewhere unusual or you have some family dynamics or relationships that are different from the norm. Maybe you prefer an independent or nomadic home situation? You dislike conformity to your cultural heritage. Or you live far away from where you were born.

Pluto transiting here can deepen a reclusive, philosophical approach to the world, a desire to hide, or to build a sanctuary, a defensive fortification from the world.

This is also where Pluto can sweep away the foundations of your life as it is, and compel you to make the changes you need to make in oder for you to grow and evolve.

If there is danger or violence in your home situation there may come a day where you have to leave it to find safety. This is an extreme example, but Pluto can sometimes be extreme if we try to ignore or deny what’s really happening. You might sense that it is up to you to break a family pattern of violence or abuse. This can be a situation that if faced with courage and determination can be both empowering and liberating.

You might decide you are finally ready to leave home and find a new place that is more to your liking, one that brings you more freedom and autonomy, one that is more suited to the healing journey you are embarking on.

This sort of calling is especially likely when Pluto squares your ascendent degree, or crosses the IC. It might feel like a matter of life and death, of survival. Be reassured that Pluto also provides the strength, resilience and courage to face almost anything and overcome it. Whatever situation you face, you will have inner resources to draw from.

There could be a death in the family and as a result you find yourself on an entirely new path, most likely when there are contacts between Pluto and other transiting planets or sensitive points on your chart such as the IC.

Births are just as likely as deaths. Pluto is powerfully regenerative in this part of the chart. Perhaps you are looking for somewhere to put down roots and start your own family? Or if you are in your senior years you might begin to feel a deep need for more independence. A home where you have your own space, but where it’s okay to be yourself and do your own thing.

Pluto’s transit here can bring changes to your home situation through fires, volcanic or destructive processes. Relocating and uprooting your entire life can be dramatic, yet Pluto provides the impetus to do exactly that. You will find you have more than your usual amount of determination to establish yourself elsewhere, somewhere better suited to the new person you are evolving into.

Another way Pluto can manifest — you might feel trapped or stuck, or suffer hardship and deprivation for the sake of your family or home. Yet when you forge your way forward it will be empowering and exhilarating. You will understand the point of it all, which is to grow and evolve as an ensouled human being.

This transit can bring a profoundly healing process involving the past and family, your childhood and the things buried there. This is one of the most intensely transformative and empowering journeys you will ever embark on.

In modern astrology Pluto is the co-ruler of Scorpio, so you have a natural affinity with Pluto’s regenerative power. You have a warrior spirit, and it’s your courage and determination that aligns with this powerful archetype when you embrace the process.

People with Scorpio rising: James Franco, Naomi Watts, Bjork, Ivanna Trump, Vanessa Paradis, Taylor Swift.

LIBRA RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Fifth House

This house is the domain of themes relating to romance, entertainment and games, children, hobbies and creativity, the things you love doing, celebrations and parties, and fun, frivolous things. With Aquarius in this position you enjoy experimenting with outlandish hobbies, especially those that allow you plenty of creative freedom. If you have children they are likely to be unique in some way.

This is probably one the most benign and gentle transits of Pluto, and following on from the intensity of the 4H transit it will be a welcome change. The transit will be at its most evident when Pluto trines your Ascendant degree (or any of your other chart points or planets).

Romantic and sexual encounters are likely to be powerful, intense or extreme in some way. You may meet people who you feel destined to be with, or who feel strangely familiar, or who are taboo or dangerous. Pluto will activate your charisma, an aura of dark charm, and yet you might try to restrain your deep passionate urges.

Potentially either you or someone you meet is a tender trap, drawing you into an underworld uncharacteristic of you, the combination of illicit desire and secrecy too hard to resist.

You are a bit addicted to romance, melodrama and romantic intrigue, which can if you are not conscious, sweep you up into a vortex of turmoil and emotional anguish. Unconventional attractions can take you by surprise. The more you try to suppress and control it the more tempting it becomes. A far easier approach is to surrender to it while being authentic and honest with yourself.

Episodes of limerence, stalking, obsession or unrequited lust/love could arise — either you, or to you, or to someone you know. This could be just enough to wake you up to how sexuality and creativity are expressions of the same drive. After all the artistic inspiration available to you now is enviable and it would be a waste of your evolving talent if you ignored it.

You may become extremely skilled and successful in some creative media, especially art forms involving light, images or air and conceptual art, such as abstract art. Or a dangerously, thrilling hobby becomes all consuming.

This is a highly fertile and productive cycle of Pluto. So consider whether or not it is a good time to have children. If you have children already, spending time with them and enjoying the freedom to explore and learn can liberating and transformative. Games, humour, entertainment and fun things can lead to a revolution in the work you do and can prove to be fulfilling and meaningful in unforeseen ways. Entertainers can reinvent them selves during this transit.

Celebrities with Libra Rising: Princess Anne, Leo DiCaprio, Jennifer Anniston, Brittney Spears, Billy Connolly.

VIRGO RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Sixth House

The sixth place traditionally relates to people who work for you or support you, health problems, and small animals. It is also a house that is in aversion, (like the second, twelfth and eight houses), meaning it’s not easy to manage the affairs of this realm because you can’t always relate to them or understand them. They are hidden from you.

If you have planets here, especially planets that connect to the MC it’s likely you work in essential services, or for others who are vulnerable or disadvantaged (such as animals/animal rescue). The Aquarian themes in this place, relate to a set of fixed, internal ethics, principals and laws that are grounded in a sense of what is right, pure and good. Is this you?

With Pluto transiting this place you are only interested in your true calling. You may turn your life upside down to follow a path that you feel is your destiny, and if you don’t know what that destiny is, you will very likely experience events that somehow clarify your purpose. Something happens that very obviously sign-posts what you must do.

You might find yourself in an unviable work situation, or you feel stuck in menial occupation that is not meaningful, fulfilling or serving the ethics that are true to you. Heeding your inner calling is essential to your health and wellbeing, despite what you consider sensible or even practical now. This is when you embark on a journey of discovery, or determination to achieve what might seem like the impossible.

Events may seem to conspire to release you from the work you are used to if you are unwilling to heed the call to embark on a new journey. This will become impossible to ignore when Pluto trines (or squares your MC). Trouble with employees, colleagues or boss are often a source of turmoil and a sign that you need to think about moving on.

Once you are on track it may seem like your methods are radical, unorthodox, obsessive, fixated or unique somehow. Other people may not understand your motivation, and you will be required to work hard to establish trust and gain support. It is a thing you are meant to do, and it will feel right even though it can be extremely challenging mentally and physically.

A health crises or disability can develop over this transit, preventing you from working altogether. Or a situation with pets or animals leads you down a rabbit hole. These are Pluto’s more drastic or extreme ways of making you change. Once you begin to consciously participate in Pluto’s imperatives you will understand what work you need to be doing, even if that means not working at all. In that case Pluto is taking you on a personal healing journey, one that involves your full attention and devotion.

Celebrities with Virgo Rising: Steve Jobs, Renee Zellweger, John Cleese, Paul McCartney, Bill Clinton.

LEO RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Seventh House

The Seventh place, opposite the Ascendent symbolises other people. Traditionally it is also the place of enemies, adversaries and professional people you have a contract with. As the place representing the western horizon, the setting Sun, it is where things sink below the horizon and become invisible. So it can represent endings also. Like the other angular transits of Pluto — the fourth, tenth and first houses, this can be an intense and profound Pluto journey.

Long standing commitments must evolve and grow with you if they are to continue to support your soul growth. If they are somehow blocking your path, if they become controlling and restricting, you might find they become intolerable. Relationships are often a mirror, but now Pluto reflects our innermost hidden self, the unconscious material that you don’t want to face in the form of someone else’s behaviour.

Any kind of toxic element in a relationship will point the way to your soul growth by showing you what is acceptable and where your boundaries need to be. Sometimes this can only happen when the relationship is over and you can see yourself with honestly and compassion.

Or you can be drawn into unsafe situations, relationships characterised by conflict, danger and animosity, power struggles that become obsessive or soul-sucking, or that are dramatic in some way. You might find you have to work on and fortify your boundaries in all your dealings with others.

Sometimes the two of you enter a crises situation together that forever changes the nature and status of your relationship, or liberates you both from a soul contract that has run its course. With Leo rising you are deeply committed and loyal by nature, so this transit could potentially represent a watershed moment for your long-term partnerships.

But Pluto’s job is to help you let go of attachments that stop you from growing, or that are not healthy anymore. Pluto in this angular position can show up as someone who wants power and control over you. Conflict arises, and is potentially dangerous or violent. If you feel victimised, Pluto is asking you to fight, or at least find a way to stand in your truth and power.

Relationships that have elements of obsession, limerence, secrecy, shame, jealousy, addiction, abuse, control, manipulation (narcissism), or violence are Plutonic in essence. Sometimes you meet people like this who you feel powerfully drawn to. Through these people you are purified as if by fire.

The relationships you form over the transit can also have a powerful influence over your career and home situation, as well as your sense of self. Your public facing self, your career and reputation, can also begin to change and evolve when Pluto connects with your MC and IC axis or when Pluto crosses your DC. This will be when your attention is diverted to these themes the most intensely.

But be aware that these processes can unfold over two to three years. And because of the sensitivity of these angles it can feel like being torn in different directions. You might for example have to choose between marriage and career, or family and career, or where you want to live is not where your partner wants to live. These are tough choices that will pull you into a deeper knowing of who you are what you truly want for yourself.

Celebrities with Leo Rising: King Charles, Meryl Streep, Kirsten Dunst, Martin Scorsese, Celine Dion, Barry Mannilow.

CANCER RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Eighth House

The Eighth place in modern astrology is considered a financial realm, but rather than your personal money it symbolises collective money such as debt, tax and inheritance. It is more traditionally the place of hidden, esoteric, arcane and forbidden/taboo topics. This can include themes such as death, the spirit realms, sex and sexuality among others.

Pluto seems to be at home in this place, often bringing a deep and slow maturing and rebirth journey. You might for instance develop a fascination for esoteric topics such as astrology, spiritualism, tarot, either developing a new talent or unearthing previously hidden talents. You might feel as if you have stepped through a portal to another world as you begin to see, experience or understand things that are hidden to others.

It may take some time before you are able to master the knowledge you discover, or come to terms with some dark themes relating to death and the spirit world. Rather than keeping secrets it will help you to share it with people you trust, bringing it into the light.

A spiritual practice that grounds you in light and protects you from the influence of dark energy, is essential.

A near-death experience, either yours or someone close to you, is another potential manifestation of this journey. This may turn out to be transformative in your life, changing your perception of death and bringing deep healing for both past and present versions of yourself.

This may involve the revelation of hidden secrets, or some other buried knowledge that somehow changes how you see the world. You are delving into the unknown, driven by a deep fascination for the hidden mysteries of life and the universe. You want to get the very bottom of something that seems tantalising and complex, the inner, hidden workings of things.

Concerning money, much depends on other aspects. An inheritance is just one possibility. Generally Pluto requires that you understand the assets and resources you share with others as energy. You might feel like you need to become more self-sufficient and embark on a quest to become debt free.

Or you might find yourself in a co-dependant situation requiring great fortitude and determination to break free from. Through a death you may have to confront how you will survive or be provided for. Adversarial situations can arise through the sharing of an estate or a matrimonial settlement and you might be forced to fight for what you are entitled to.

Pluto often shows up as extremes in his area of influence. In this place it can manifest as great wealth as well as poverty. You may have to dig deep to develop financial resources and the knowledge of how to use them to your advantage, overcoming deep fears and phobias about money and resources in the process.

This place is also known as a place of hidden karmic patterns, especially relating to past lives, soul work and reincarnation. This journey could take you on a quest to find a key to unlock a puzzle, to understand a mystery or undertake a great work — a magnum opus, a process that has great portent or drama connected to it. This is because your soul evolution will cross an important threshold that you will not fully understand until you are on the other side.

Celebrities with Cancer Rising: Angelina Jolie, Ben Affleck, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lizzy Caplan, Julia Roberts, Cher, Joni Mitchell.

GEMINI RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Ninth House

The Ninth place relates to knowledge and beliefs, and their institutions such as churches and universities. It includes topics relating to law and the justice system as it belongs to these systems of knowledge, and we can also include science and technology here as for Gemini rising this place is governed by Aquarius.

This is the worldly domain in traditional astrology, symbolising systems and structures that underpin the culture in which we live. It signifies travel overseas, because the way we see, experience and understand other countries and there cultures can open our eyes and expand our world view. Here, the Aquarian world view relates to egalitarian and humanitarian themes, the rules and governing ideas that promote the common good.

The great astrologer Robert Hand says Pluto brings knowledge not through the mind, but through the viscera. So we are talking about learning from experience, not just from books and the internet. We need to go there, see it and touch it to understand more fully and deeply.

Some of the experiences you have during this journey can totally break down what you thought you understood, radically and gradually replacing it with an exciting new way of understanding the world you live in. Through direct experience, persistence and self-belief you mine for gold; the gold of wisdom and truth. This can be a deep and arduous process.

Because of Pluto’s obsessive, gritty nature you can get drawn into or captivated by ideologies and beliefs that have dark intentions, for instance political isms, cults, fundamentalist or evangelical movements. Even if you are not personally involved, you might know someone who is and this is what affects you in such a profound way.

It is possible that you meet someone who acts as a teacher or guru who changes how you understand the world, from the tiny particle, the quantum theories of matter, to the big picture, such as the world from outer space. You may become captivated by profound scientific mysteries regarding the nature of the universe.

With your Gemini love of information and technology you can expect to be powerfully influenced by what you see in the world beyond your village. This will have an impact on your career, or at least what you have to teach the world.

Knowledge brings a sense of power, or fanatical zeal, and you can become unconsciously evangelical, with a self-righteous stance that attracts enemies and opponents. If you become arrogant or superior, Pluto will find ways to trip you up and humble you.

You can be transfixed by an ideal, convinced of its goodness, only to realise how evil it has become. Pluto has a weird way of transforming something into its opposite and this is especially appropriate to the sign of Aquarius, ruler of your ninth house.

This transit could turn out to be a journey, either literally or figuratively, to find the truth, and to be transformed and empowered by your discovery. Rather than a conceptual journey, you might embark on some kind of world-wide adventure. Destinations will no doubt include unusual or dangerous places, journeys that test your endurance somehow or your limits of understanding. And additionally vocational travel, such as long or frequent trips for career and work opportunities are very likely.

Celebrities with Gemini Rising: Ben Stiller, Julianne Moore, Mick Jagger, Margaret Atwood, Rufus Wainwright, Gordon Ramsey, Edward Snowden.

TAURUS RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Tenth House

Like the other fixed signs this is an angular house and promises profound, radical change in this area of your life. The tenth house relates to your public life, status and reputation, your career and future ambitions. It is also the place of people with power and authority in your life. Its position at the top of the chart makes this domain the most visible, the most public.

With Aquarius in this place you are the kind of person who has worked hard for your achievements, carving out a place that is stable yet offers you plenty of freedom to do things your own way. Typically you dislike working under a hierarchy so either you are your own boss, or you work in situations where you can work to your own timetable.

The fixed angles are signs that are also practical, down to earth, or concerned with tangible and material matters, and are often reluctant to change, even when you know you must.

Pluto on the angular signs has a way of bringing big shifts by pulling you in different directions. For instance having to leave home or relocate your family for the sake of your career, or questioning your career direction because you are getting married or because of a health situation. I am talking about the big decisions in life on this axis; career, relationships, health and family/home.

If you are not already ensconced in a career where you are your own boss, Pluto will drive you to rebel against authority in a determined way. If you try to move up the corporate ladder you can find that your path forward is blocked by higher powers or people in authority. Only then will you know it’s time to forge your own unique path.

You have the determination, resilience and strength to do whatever you set your mind to under this transit. You will brush off failures and set-backs that crush others, rising like a phoenix from the ashes of failure (if there are any), allowing nothing or nobody to get in the way of your ambition. As if claimed by a secret destiny you are now capable of extraordinary feats to achieve the goals you set for yourself.

You can develop an instinct, a sixth sense even, for opportunities and are capable of overcoming what seems impossible obstacles to realise them. Pluto is the fire that pushes you to succeed, especially when on or near your MC, often a two to three year process.

However eventually you might discover it’s lonely at the top and begin to wonder what you have lost or sacrificed. It is then that karma comes full circle and any unethical or illegal dealings will come back to haunt you. Pluto here has a way of exposing things you want to keep private, when you least expect it.

While Pluto is in this place you might prefer to keep a low profile, or if you seek fame it may not come easily. There may come a time when you will be forced to defend your reputation, and yet this experience will show you how much power and influence you now potentially have, for better or worse.

Potentially your charisma and mana attracts jealous enemies and if you are not aware of them they can create unwelcome drama. However if you stand in your truth and divine purpose their machinations will prove their own undoing.

If there is someone who wields power over you this journey will be a process of breaking free from them in potentially dramatic or disruptive ways, empowering you in the process. People in authority will exact their due, forcing you to take stock of your career goals.

If you are embarking on this Pluto journey without any clear direction of who you are and what you want to achieve you can find that nothing works for you. Your career choices end up as dead ends. Your chosen path suddenly becomes unviable, you are made redundant or fired, or it makes you miserable even if it’s your dream job.

This is a journey of self-fulfilment, of purpose and destiny. Heed the signposts and synchronicities that are guiding you toward it, trust your instincts and when you find that path commit to it. Pluto requires you to choose what is authentic to you. It may not be anything grand or worldly, but it is what you born for and this is the time.

ARIES RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Eleventh House

The Eleventh house relates mainly to your friends, your social, professional and business networks. It also includes future plans and aspirations. After the drama and intensity of the tenth house, this transit of Pluto will feel like a welcome respite from worldly concerns. But even here, Pluto has a way of transforming the landscape in unexpected ways.

With Aquarius in this position you are something of an outsider when it comes to friends and socialising. You value your freedom and independence and prefer associations that are dedicated to a purpose or involve tools of your trade. Your peers may see you as a bit radical with some outlandish ideas and despite your social sparkle or rebellious reputation, you are often in demand socially.

When Pluto lands here you will be even less inclined to indulge in small talk and trivial concerns. There develops a depth and power to your social interactions that begin to feed your desire for more authenticity. Old friends and group activities are no longer enjoyable or satisfying. Your ideals and motivations are shifting inevitably toward more independent endeavours.

You might notice that casual encounters now seem boring and predicable, and subconsciously you are looking for interactions that reflect some of the radical new concepts you have glimpsed already. You have grown and developed during Pluto’s journey through your tenth place, and so has your purpose and direction. Your social life and friendships will now begin to reflect this.

Pluto can bring opportunities to meet new people and develop a new social circle based on your new ideals. You might become fascinated with a concept that introduces you to new ideas, groups or activities that satisfy your need to transform the world for the better.

So you need to find a tribe that resonates with your purpose and supports your dreams. Sometimes a friend drama, even a betrayal or death can bring you profound epiphany relating to the nature of that connection, or reveal to you the inner workings of past connections and their stories. This can change your view of the world even further, either becoming more cynical or more authentic in the process.

It is through these networks and webs of relationships that you see your self, your potential and how you can grow and evolve.

PISCES RISING ~ Pluto Transiting Twelfth House

Traditionally the twelfth place is the place of prisons and hospitals, and in modern astrology it is the realm of the unconscious, thus planets here can connect us to the collective, either in helpful or unhelpful ways. In ancient astrology it was the house of large animals and hidden enemies.

Other signifiers I would include are sleep and dreams, health especially mental health, healing and regeneration, and endings. Grief and those deep psychological processes requiring retreat and solitude are also included here.

Much depends on planets or chart points that are here, and their aspects to other planets. Pluto is quite happy in this place, the significations are similar in some ways, however Pluto can stir up the sediment that lies at the bottom of your psyche when transiting here, and connect you in strange psychic ways to the collective. In other ways this journey could turn out to be benign and invisible to you, just a feeling like a strange distancing, or turning your back on the world.

When I say Pluto here stirs things up from below I am referring to unconscious things becoming more conscious. Pluto wants you to explore what’s there, even if you are averse to this. It is like a skeleton in the closet or a corpse hidden under the floorboards. Although you don’t want to, you need to look at it.

It’s the fear of the unknown, the darkness, the unknowable, a realm you are both fascinated and repelled by that gets in the way of this soul-deepening journey. Sometimes these fears cannot be understood at all, they have to be explored and exposed to the light of day.

As Pluto comes into this place you might begin to have nightmares. Or strange dreams of ghosts, fires or wild animals. Keeping a dream journal will help you make sense of what is emerging into the light, and how you can use it to evolve and grow.

Pluto brings to end something you are attached to and this can be hard. Grief is like no other transformational process, but as an artistic and sensitive being you are now called to transcend it to become more real and solid. When it comes to creative super-powers you are at the top of your game. It can feel isolating, yet if you can channel this intense and potent energy in practical and tangible ways you will begin to feel connected.

Your imagination tends to the dark, strange and mysterious, things that defy reason and explanation. You will need to define and strengthen your psychic boundaries as you are tapping into the collective. This is both a gift and curse as you seek to discern and clarify what is yours and what is collective.

Under this transit you might become obsessed with helping others, especially marginalised, vulnerable people, animals or mentally unwell, or other lost souls. You will identify with them, or with the sacredness of this work, and somehow it will become entwined with your own healing journey. Helping others can become a divine calling, requiring sacrifice and courage.

In other ways you will want to withdraw from the hustle and bustle of life, developing a strong feeling for solitude and your own internal world, the peace and quiet of lonely places. Perhaps it’s your health that requires you to draw back, gather your resources and dream?

Other people may not understand this more introvert phase, but once you begin to understand it you will be able to express more clearly what you see. This can be through your imagination, through art, music, imagery or technology.

If you refuse to heed this call, if you remain materialistic in your approach to the unseen world within, addiction and other mental health issues can take control. Be conscious of any changes in your health as these are signposts pointing to a need to seek answers within.

You are required now to dig deeper to tap into your creative wellspring, to channel it into the light. To manifest something dark into the realm of the visible. Pluto is asking you to make the unconscious more conscious. This is your task for the duration of the transit.
